In the final weeks up to #EqHist2018, we are running a series of posts to highlight our fabulous sponsors. Today we kick things off with our host and partner, the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Library. We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring equine historians together in a location with so much value in research collections, and so much equine history of its own.
The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Library (WKKAHL) is one of the world’s largest public collections on the Arabian horse with over 7,000 books and a growing number of archival collections. The WKKAHL collects current, rare, and out-of-print materials on the Arabian horse internationally and the horse industry as a whole across the Western United States on a regular basis. These items include books, stud books, periodicals, photographic and audiovisual materials, and archival collections. Some of the more

popular ways these materials are used include community research, customized class sessions, internships, and exhibit displays. These materials are open to all interested users.
The unit will be offering a tour of the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Library on Saturday, December 1st at 2:00pm for attendees of the Equine History Conference. Visitors will see highlights from our rare book and archival collections including early drafts and sketches of renowned artist and Arabian horse expert Gladys Brown Edwards, WWII army remount depot records and correspondence, original Arabian horse costumes designed by Lois Ann Kroll, a saddle used by Rudolph Valentino in his last film, photographs of the Kellogg Ranch in its heyday featuring celebrities who visited, and many other items. Additionally, there will be an overview of the current exhibition Miniature Menageries: The History and Artists Behind Hagen-Renaker, Inc.
